Congrats to Danqing Liao on finishing her master thesis and receiving Spatial Science and GIS Award

Danqing Liao, a graduate student worker at GEAR Lab, recently completed her master's degree in Urban Planning in May 2020. She is the recipient of the 2020 Spatial Science and GIS Award for her great efforts to apply GIS to solve a planning issue. Danqing has worked for the project 'Integrated disaster citizen science, education, and engagement: a customized resilience inference measurement (CRIM) framework.' Her work focused on social media data mining for emergency management. She analyzed the rescue requests on Twitter in the Houston area during Hurricane Harvey to provide significant insights on the real-time emergent rescue.

Danqing's master committee members are Dr. Michelle Meyer, Dr. Lei Zou, and Dr. Dongying Li.

Congratulations, Danqing!
