We are thrilled to announce that Debayan Mandal, one of our graduate students, has been selected for the I-GUIDE Summer School 2023 on Convergence Science in Action this year. Debayan has been selected from a highly competitive pool of eighty applicants for thirty slots and his selection is a testament to his passion to enrich disaster resilience through CyberGIS and Digital Twins.
The Summer School will be hosted on the UCAR campus in Boulder, Colorado, from Monday, August 7 to Friday, August 11, 2023, by the organizers Dr. Mohan Ramamurthy, Anand Padmanabhan, Eric Shook, Diana Sinton, Shaowen Wang.
I-GUIDE believes that certain complex and compelling societal problems require a convergent research approach when knowledge, tools, and modes of thinking from multiple disciplines are strategically integrated and merged. During the summer school program, Debayan will have the opportunity to interact with thirty graduate students and early career scholars who will collaborate with leading researchers and experts of I-GUIDE to develop novel solutions to complex problems that rely on computation- or data-intensive geospatial data science. He will be working on problems in the topics of climate change, biodiversity, water security, sustainable development, and the implications of these as studied via social science data. We are confident that this experience will provide Debayan with valuable insights and skills that he can apply in his future academic and professional pursuits. We are proud of Debayan, and we congratulate him on this achievement.
