Dr. Lei Zou Invited to Attend the Natural Hazard Center/NOAA Flood Workshop at CU Boulder

On April 21-23, 2026, Dr. Lei Zou from GEAR Lab was invited to participate in the HNC/NOAA Flood Workshop, which brought together NOAA stakeholders and researchers working at the forefront of flood data science and related fields.

During the workshop, Dr. Zou engaged in productive discussions on flood data science, data management, knowledge graphs, and a range of applications for improving flood research and decision-making. The event also provided an opportunity to reconnect with former Texas A&M scholars and students and to build new connections across the research community.

In conjunction with the workshop, Dr. Zou was invited by Dr. Guofeng Cao of the Department of Geography at the University of Colorado Boulder to deliver a presentation titled “Responsible GeoAI for Disaster Resilience.” His talk highlighted the importance of responsible, trustworthy, and human-centered geospatial artificial intelligence in supporting disaster preparedness, response, and community resilience.

The workshop fostered valuable exchanges among researchers and practitioners and opened new opportunities for collaboration at the intersection of GeoAI, flood science, and disaster resilience.
