Dr. Lei Zou Presents Geospatial Digital Twin Research at JpGU-AGU 2026

Recently, Dr. Lei Zou participated in the JpGU-AGU Joint Meeting 2026 (https://www.jpgu.org/meeting_e2026/), held May 24-29 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. The international meeting brought together researchers across Earth, planetary, and geospatial sciences to exchange new ideas and foster multidisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. Zou delivered a presentation titled “Sustainable Cities in 3D: Modeling Human-Environment Interactions with Geospatial Digital Twins.” His talk addressed how geospatial digital twins can support three-dimensional representations of cities and provide new ways to examine relationships among people, the built environment, and environmental processes. This research contributes to GEAR Lab’s broader efforts to advance spatial intelligence and data-driven approaches for more resilient and sustainable communities.

In addition to presenting his research, Dr. Zou chaired a session on Geographic Information Science and Cartography. In this role, he helped facilitate scholarly discussions on emerging GIScience methods, geospatial technologies, spatial representation, and cartographic research.
