On Feb 23, 2024, Dr. Lei Zou from GEAR Lab was invited to lead a workshop on mining spatial data from texts: techniques and applications. This workshop, co-sponsored by S4, PSTC, CCV, and DSI and led by Lei Zou, aims to equip researchers, data scientists, GIS professionals, and anyone interested in this topic with the capability to harness the power of text-based spatial data. Throughout this interactive workshop, attendees will be introduced to the fundamental concepts and techniques of spatial text mining and will explore how textual data, such as social media posts, news articles, and other forms of unstructured data, can be a rich source of spatial information.
