📢 New Publication from GEAR Lab Members in Applied Spatial Analysis and Policy!

We are excited to announce that Dr. Lei Zou has co-authored a new paper titled Urban Climate Adaptation and REsilience (U-CARE) in Texas: Insights from Interdisciplinary Perspectives,” published in Applied Spatial Analysis and Policy. The leading author is Dr. Yangyang Xu, an Associate Professor from the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University.

This work represents an interdisciplinary, multi-university collaboration, bringing together expertise from the natural sciences, social sciences, and engineering to address pressing urban climate challenges.

The study builds on the IPCC’s Special Report on Climate Change and Cities, highlighting the urgent need for tailored solutions that enhance urban adaptability and resilience in the face of increasing climate-related risks. The team emphasizes sustainable urban planning, greater public awareness, and resilient infrastructure design as critical strategies for mitigating climate impacts on human settlements. By integrating diverse disciplinary perspectives, the paper advances a coordinated and holistic approach to urban climate resilience. The insights and recommendations extend beyond Texas, offering guidance for cities worldwide striving to adapt and thrive under changing climate conditions.

Congratulations to Dr. Zou and all collaborators on this impactful contribution to the field of urban resilience!
