Yifan Yang and Jasper Li Winning Honorable Mentions at AAG 2025 GISS Competition

We are proud to share that Yifan Yang, a first-year Ph.D. student in the GEAR Lab, and Zongrong (Jasper) Li, an incoming Ph.D. student in the GEAR Lab, have each received Honorable Mention in the AAG Geographic Information Science and Systems (GISS) Specialty Group Student Paper Competition.


Yifan’s presentation, Hyperlocal Disaster Damage Assessment Using Bi-Temporal Street-View Imagery and Pre-Trained Image Processing Models,” showcased innovative use of street-view imagery and advanced AI models to rapidly assess disaster impacts at fine spatial scales.

Jasper’s presentation, StreetviewLLM: Extracting Geographic Information Using a Chain-of-Thought Multimodal Large Language Model,” introduced a novel multimodal large language model framework for interpreting and extracting geographic information from street-view imagery.
